Adopt a pet Woodside Animal Welfare Trust

Table of Content

They would best suit a home with older children, no other pets and somewhere far away from a busy/main road where they can go out during the day. She loves to be the center of attention, is always wanting a fuss and is very vocal! Daisy is the quieter one of the two and Isobel is more outgoing and the first to come out of her bed for attention. The pair are still getting used to it here at Woodlands and can be a bit nervous but they love being fussed. While they have been with us they have shown no signs of behavioral issues apart from being a little shy and they are a pair of lovely girls! We think the best home for Daisy and Isobel would be a quieter home with no other pets or children and somewhere away from a busy / main road where they can go out during the day.

She is looking for a home close to Gables, with someone who has experience with regular medication and skin issues. He was taken to Gables after his owner died and cannot be rehomed to the area of Whitleigh, as this is where he is from. As the old saying goes, a pet is for life not just for Christmas. If you’re interested in volunteering at the centre, you can check out ourlatest vacancies. February 2022 – We are continuing to follow our current adoption procedure for the foreseeable future despite Government relaxation of regulations.

Pet Health Certificates

We frequently receive visits from adopted dogs and their proud owners. Divorce, redundancy, eviction and, increasingly, emigration, frequently means that pets sometimes return to us. The Woodside Animal Welfare Trust is an animal rehoming charity based on the outskirts of Plymouth in Devon. The foundation of Woodside’s broad field of work was begun in 1974 by Carole Bowles. Her significant contribution to animal welfare was finally recognised in 2000 when she was made an MBE by Her Majesty, The Queen. If you only read the newsletter and pass it on, you will be helping pets in need.

Our luxury pet hotel at Woodside, boasts a superior Kennels and Cattery in a family run establishment where your pet will receive individual care and attention. Some are available for adoption and some are not registering interested yet. A. Yes we do home cats indoors if they are assessed by staff to be likely to tolerate this.

We are lucky that with our pens, most will indicate how likely they are to want to go outside. All cats adoption fees include neutering, vaccinations, microchipping, flea and worm treatment. For example, despite fierce opposition, we blocked an adoption for a dog we knew was petrified of children. She had been badly tormented in her first home and the man would not accept that his three small and boisterous children would be a nightmare for her. She eventually went off happily with a retired couple with no children.

We understand life can be busy and complicated, which is why we provide a variety of services to make things easier on you and your furry family. Take a look below to see what we offer and contact us with any questions. Responsible pet ownership is actively encouraged and, when funds allow, we send experienced Welfare Officers into deprived areas. Here, they help owners understand their pet’s needs and promote our spay and neuter scheme, which will have prevented thousands of unwanted litters over the years. From the short time Nancy has been here with us we have seen a very excitable happy girl.

This means that often pets already in rescue centres are "overlooked" and "forgotten about". Will help toward ensuring the animals receive the veterinary care they need. Our centres will always welcome any generous donations of food, treats, or other items to help us care for animals. We have dedicated a page of the website to the procedure we are now following.

She would be able to live in a flat or a house, and would prefer access to a garden but this isn't necessary. Ivy can be left for up to 5-6 hours a day and is comfortable around children aged 5 years and over. She is looking to have direct access to her own secure garden, with a 4ft minimum fence.

Dogs are able to come to the Sanctuary to be introduced to the cat. This helps us to ensure not only the cats safety, but that you and your new cat are the perfect match. Please also pay special attention to our rehoming rules outlined at the bottom of this webpage.

The minimum living area should be a 6ft hutch with a 6ft by 8ft attached run it might sound large, but in reality, this is only going to allow your rabbits 4 hops on average. We will continue to monitor the Covid in our local area as well as advise from the government every two weeks. Please view all the rabbits currently for adoption here, or scroll down and click the red ‘Adopt Rabbit‘ button to see the rabbits available for adoption. A. Yes we do if the cat or kitten chosen is assessed to be appropriate for the age of child and household set up. Here, or scroll down and click the red ‘Adopt Cat‘ button to see the cats available for adoption. We will continue to monitor the COVID in our local area as well as advise from the Government and ADCH every two weeks.

His new owner must be committed to continuing his training in a professional environment. He needs an adult only home without visiting children, and he will need to be the only pet in his home. He needs a home in a quiet area away from the city centre, with access to a secure and private garden which is not shared with neighbours. Ideally he would go to a home with a secure garden due to his eyesight. A home with someone around most of the time, but he would be happy to be left for an hour or so. Even at his age and eyesight problems he'd still give a cat a run for it's money, so no cats at home please.

She shares a kennel with another older dog and they get along really well and is always happy to stop and say hello to any passing dogs. Nancy is very outgoing and loves to always be on the move with things to do. The pair where handed in with 2 other cats and another 4 kittens aged 6 weeks. The pair came to us with two adult cats and four kittens as their owners could no longer cope. We think that Drew would best suit a home with no other pets, older/no children, somewhere he can go out during the day away from busy/main roads and away from the Southport area. If there are other pets in the household i.e. dogs, we will normally recommend a kitten unless we have an adult cat who is used to living with dogs.

We take in all pet birds, but the majority are aviary birds looking to be homed back into aviaries. We do ask for rabbits to have living accommodation that allows them to be able to show their natural behaviour. Feel free to call us to discuss your accommodation set up and sizes.

Poppy is very friendly and enjoys meeting new people and other dogs. She has a lot of energy and would enjoy doing an activity like Scent Work or Agility and would be suited an active owner who enjoys running or hill walking. They are both lovely girls that haven't had the best start to life. Porscha can be unsure around other dogs so would benefit from working on her dog socialisation skills when she is out and about. Porscha will require direct access to their own secure garden with a minimum 5ft fence.

Kennels and Cattery

Lizzie is a four-year-old Staffordshire cross who has gained lots of confidence in a short space of time since she has been at the Dogs Trust rehoming centre in Ilfracombe, staff say. This pair of female rabbits were taken to Woodside as their previous owner's cat was scared of them. Adoption prices for kittens under the age of 14 weeks range from £85 to £100 each or £160-£180 for two, and cats are £70 for one cat over the age of 14 weeks or £110 for two. He is suitable to live with a family with older children (age 13+). He is looking for an adults-only home with no other dogs or cats.
