Best 30 Jewish Nursing Home in Fairfield, CT with Reviews

I know the in’s and out’s of the tablet system we use, PointCare. I know how to manipulate the time clock so it says I’m in visits longer than I actually am. But I have a conscious and I just can’t do that.

Each nursing home that provides services to people with Medicare or Medicaid is required to make the results of its last full inspection available at the nursing home for the public to review. If an inspection team finds that a nursing home doesn't meet a specific standard, it issues a deficiency citation. The federal government may impose penalties on nursing homes for serious deficiencies or for deficiencies that the nursing home fails to correct for a long period of time. For example, Medicare may assess a fine, deny payment to the nursing home, assign a temporary manager, or install a state monitor.

She is extremely unhappy with the care that she and other guests are receiving. She keeps saying that it is understaffed, the staff are not trained adequately, the facility is not clean, the food is usually cold and inedible . She was given a "2 minute" shower where she barely got wet before the aide said it was time to go.

My grandmother is very much enjoying the environment. The staff is incredibly friendly and treat her with respect. She enjoys being able to socialize with the other residents and enjoys the planned events and games. She has access to many types of food which she enjoys and the facility is easy for me and other members of my family to access to visit her.

Services and Amenities of The Jewish Home for the Elderly of Fairfield County

The space each senior has seems a bit small to me but perhaps they place them based on mobility. My grandmother, being largely immobile, perhaps does not need a whole room to herself that may be why she is placed in a smaller room with a roommate. The room had a window that opened out into the lovely well maintained grounds and it catches the sunlight very well, so I imagine many of the other rooms do as well. When she or her roommate make a simple request or need assistance, the staff promise to come but often do not, particularly at night. Many of the staff are per diem, making it difficult to establish a relationship or routine with folks who are not that familiar with the unit and patients. A few long term employees are very good but due to understaffing, they cannot always provide the care they would like. My mother said that she would never recommend the facility to anyone which is very sad to me as we always held it in such high regard.

While the facility primarily serves Jewish elderly, my grandmother has been Christian her whole life and has never been judged. She would say she is unhappy but she hasn't taken full advantage of the benefits of JHE, including the outdoor courtyard and gardens where families can eat out with them, or go for a stroll. They also organize live performances from local musicians and actors. Last fall, they had a Rat Pack Tribute perform and it was a big hit. She also has a few nurses who have taken to personally visiting her for a few hours each day. She may have to move into a shared room, but I think it will do her some good to get a roommate.

She asked that I post her review on line as she was not sure to whom she should complain. YP - The Real Yellow PagesSM - helps you find the right local businesses to meet your specific needs. The staff was also able to respond to questions about the area when we were searching for somewhere to take her on her day out. We would easily recommend this facility to anyone looking for an assisted care facility.
